Word of the Day: Overcast

It has been an unusual Winter in Florida. Very overcast. Dreary. Florida is known for its sun. But it is nowhere to be found lately.

Loved and be Loved

My daughter left for school today to finish up her senior year. She has been home for over a year. Last year in January we watched her get on a plane for China. One month in Beijing was all she got. COVID started and after a frantic week of so trying to get her out of China, she was home.

It’s been wonderful to have her home. So if there was one gift from the pandemic that was unexpected, it’s extra time with her.

My wife and I will miss her, but are ready to see what life has in store … for her and for us.

We love her so much.

Word of the Day: Sphinx

Ran into one of these beauties in the mountain of Colorado. To be honest, I thought it was a hummingbird at first. Flew and looked like one. But the attennae gave it away when I got closer. Wonderful to watch. Hope to see more

I am really enjoying Micro.blog so far. Trying to find one person a day or so to follow. So far all good

Word of the Day: Transition

What stared with John Adams and the election of 1800 has keep going, with a few bumps here and there, for 220 years and counting. Lets' keep it going.

Congratulations and Good luck, President Biden. Fair winds and following seas, President Trump.

Homeland - Season 1 📺

Mrs RC and I finished watching Homeland Season 1 yesterday. Excellent. All i could say throughout that last episode of Season 1 is “Where is this going?” “I know there is a Season 2 (and 3,4,5, etc…), but I don’t see how we can get there from here.” That’s a sign of a good show in my book. One that you cant figure out.

Having worked with the Company before, I found several things in the show that stretched credulity. But it wasn’t so bad that I shut down (which has happened before while watching Hollywood interpretations of the military or government). Entertaining, even if slightly hard to believe. Excellent acting. Will be starting season 2 soon.

Please don’t tell me how it ends . . . let me enjoy it while i can.

Word of the Day: Castro

I love podcasts. Once you start listening, you can’t stop. But then the next problem hits: how to mange.

Castro is supposed to make it easy. At least that is what I was told. I didn’t buy it though.

To be honest, I didn’t get it. I’ve had Castro for about four months, but did not understand how it worked. So, for the new year, I vowed to figure it out.

The key is watching the YouTube videos by the creators explaining how to automate the podcast flow.

Brilliant !!!

Castro has an innovative three step funnel to managing your podcasts.

First, you search and subscribe to your podcast. Once done, all future episodes go to the inbox. From the inbox you can send them to your queue to be played next (too or bottom of queue) or put them back into the reference library.

It all works quite well and seamlessly. Can all be done with one hand on your phone. This morning I processed the 2453 podcasts in my inbox and now I’m down to just a couple hundred in my queue.

So I better get busy listening.

Micro or Macro blogs . . or both

Still working on getting comfortable with micro.blog. Mapping a domain and setting up a site.

Quick question for anyone out there listening

Do people on Micro.blog only post here or do they have “macro” blogs too for more long form posts? Seems like I am seeing a little of both.

Can micro.blog function as your only blog? Looks like it can with the built in design and controls.

I guess i need to read more about. it. Experimentation is fun.

Working through Micro.blog

Still working through micro.blog. To be honest, it is still a little confusing. But I have enjoyed my limited community inerations so far, and will be sticking arund for a while. I have a love-hate relationship with Twitter. I love the intersting people and viewpoints there. But I hate some of the interactions, the ads, and their corpoarte attitude … and of course, the complete lack of control and ownership of your content.

I read @jean ’s Twitter post on people leaving Twitter and comeing to MB. Very useful. I also started listening to Micro Monday podcast and enjpyed the most recent episode with @Portufraise. I have added to my Casto app and will keep listening and learning about Micro.blog

So far, so good.
